Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune says winning awards brings extra motivation and responsibility.
Khune was on Tuesday named the Absa Premiership Player of the Month for August/September, having won three straight man-of-the-match awards on his return from illness in the relevant period.
The shot-stopper, who was crowned the PSL Player of the Season in 2012/13 among other achievements in his career, dedicated his latest accolade to the Amakhosi family.
"The last time I won this was three seasons ago,” Khune told his club's website.
“I dedicate this honour to the entire Kaizer Chiefs family, as without a combined team effort I would never have won this.”
The 30-year-old added: "It’s a motivation to be recognised and it makes every player to work harder.
"However, with every achievement comes responsibility. I look ahead to work hard with the team to win more trophies for the club.”
Khune is nursing a sprained ankle sustained in an impressive display for Bafana Bafana in a 3-1 win over Burkina Faso in a World Cup qualifier at FNB Stadium on the weekend.
The Glamour Boys next visit Tshwane titans Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on October 17.
