Kaizer Chiefs striker Emmanuel Letlotlo says it's not easy watching his team struggle for goals and consistency while he's out on the sidelines.

Letlotlo had knee surgery in pre-season and is only expected back in the new year. He is recovering at Naturena along with fellow casualties Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Tsepo Masilela, Teenage Hadebe and Lorenzo Gordinho.

Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has endured abuse from fans of late following the team's slow start to the season and failure to win silverware in the previous two campaigns.

Letlotlo, who was promoted to the first team at the start of last term, is frustrated that he is currently unable to help.

"That's what hurts me most, that the team is not doing well. But there's nothing I can do and I have to be patient," Letlotlo says.

"I can see even the team is struggling to get goals but being patient is what I need to do. I have to wait until I fully recover.

"As a team we need to be consistent and stop this thing of winning today, drawing tomorrow and next day we are losing. So we need to win our games because that's what Chiefs is known for."

The 21-year-old is yet to score for Amakhosi after only starting two of five league matches in 2016/17. He is inspired to step it up by Wiseman Meyiwa's breakthrough under Komphela this campaign. Midfielder Meyiwa has scored once in five league outings.

"Meyiwa has played very well and it shows that I need to step up my game. I have to take my game to the next level," he adds.

"But I've said I need to wait until January and see because right now I'm out injured."
