The 27-year-old has largely provided cover to Bafana Bafana number one Itumeleng Khune since arriving at Naturena from AmaZulu in 2012.

While Khune captained Bafana in the 3-1 win over Burkina Faso in a World Cup qualifier at FNB Stadium on the weekend, Khuzwayo played in Chiefs' 4-2 victory over Celtic at Free State Stadium.

Khuzwayo is hopeful he gets more opportunities as he is not content to simply collect a pay cheque sitting on the bench.

"As a player, the most important thing is getting game-time. The money you are getting here is nothing really compared to getting game-time and enjoying football," says Khuzwayo.

"So for me as an individual player it is gonna be great to get more game-time because lately since this season started I haven’t had game-time.

"So for me it's all about getting game-time and enjoying my football."

Chiefs may need to lean on Khuzwayo in their next league game with Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on October 17 as Khune sprained an ankle on international duty, having also recently battled with a shoulder problem.
