Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko believes the players need to stand up and protect under-fire coach Steve Komphela.
Komphela has come under pressure from fans following two trophyless seasons and the side's indifferent start to the current campaign.
Chiefs on Sunday retained the Macufe Cup with a 4-2 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic to add to their Carling Black Label Champion Cup and Maize Cup successes in pre-season, but the Amakhosi faithful want major silverware.
Moleko is determined to help the Glamour Boys deliver results and ease the pressure on Komphela.
“For me and all the players we owe the coach, we owe the club,” said Moleko.
“It's so sad to see that people are blaming him [Komphela]. As players we are sad because we are disappointing him.
“I think we need to be together and try and fight together, and try put [together] results for the club.”
Chiefs, in sixth place on the table with nine points from seven games, will resume their bid for league honours against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on October 18.
