Bafana Bafana increased their chances of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup with a 3-1 win over Burkina Faso at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Percy Tau opened the scoring for Stuart Baxter's charges in the first minute with a flicked header that was adjudged to have crossed the line by the linesman.
Bafana were combining well going forward after 20 minutes, with Themba Zwane and Tau proving to be instrumental in the final third.
Zwane made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute with a composed finish from close range, after being played in by Andile Jali.
The Stallions were not sitting back but offered Bafana countless opportunities on the counter-attacks.
Sibusiso Vilakazi scored the third goal for the hosts in the second minute of stoppage time with a low finish inside the box after an exquisite back-heel from Tau, 3-0.
Zwane should have put the game beyond the Stallions two minutes into the second half after dilly-dallying inside the area, but he failed to hit the target after beating four players.
Bafana shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune denied Alain Traore at close range in the 55th minute before foiling the striker two minutes later again.
Bongani Zungu was given his marching orders in the 67th minute after he had an off-the-ball incident with Traore and a bevy of Stallion players.
Baxter responded to being a man down by throwing on Hlompho Kekana three minutes later in place of Jali.
Bafana were sitting deep into their own half heading into the 80th minute, but Lebogang Manyama was introduced in place of Vilakazi to use his speed on the counter-attacks.
Traore reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the 87th minute with a stunning left-footed free-kick from 25-yards out that went into the top left corner, beating Khune hands down.
Bafana held on in the closing minutes for a much-needed win.
