Germany international Toni Kroos has no regrets over leaving Bayern Munich for Real Madrid

Toni Kroos insists he has “no doubt” he made the right choice in leaving Bayern Munich for Real Madrid.

The Germany international left Bavaria for Madrid in 2014 and has since won back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles while also lifting the La Liga trophy ahead of Barcelona.

And, looking back at his decision to depart Munich, 2014 World Cup winner Kroos told the German Football Association: “My change of team was correct, in fact, from my point of view there is no doubt about it.

“Clearly, if you go abroad to a top club, it means one more step in your development.

“Carlo Ancelotti wanted me in Madrid, and had bet on me.”

When asked about the impact of previously playing under Pep Guardiola during just one season at Bayern, Kroos said: “I wouldn't undervalue my year under Pep Guardiola because I think I made a big step forward in that year.

“Pep Guardiola saw me as a central player in his system, which my style of play fit into perfectly.”
