Spain booked their place at the FIFA World Cup, while Italy were held to a 1-1 draw by Macedonia on a night which saw wins for Wales, Iceland and Ireland among others.
Spain 3-0 Albania
Spain claimed a convincing 3-0 victory over Albania at Estadio José Rico Pérez to ensure top spot in Group G.
The 2010 World Champions were already 3-0 up 25 minutes in following goals from Rodrigo, Isco, and Thiago Alcântara.
There were to be no more, but Spain will be happy with a performance that sealed their spot at next year’s showpiece in Russia.
Georgia 0-1 Wales
A 49th minute Tom Lawrence strike gave Wales a 1-0 win over Georgia at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.
Georgia had the lion’s share of possession in the Group D clash, but the visitors hung on to claim a much needed three points.
Italy 1-1 FYR Macedonia
Macedonia held Italy to a shock draw at the Stadio Olimpico after coming back from behind.
The hosts struggled to break down a resolute Macedonian defence in the opening phases of the game. However, they eventually found their way through when Giorgio Chiellini scored in the 40th minute.
Aleksandar Trajkovski sensationally equalised in the 77th minute as Macedonia made it mathematically impossible for Italy to finish top of Group G.
Croatia 1-1 Finland
Finland snatched a 1-1 draw against Croatia at the Stadion HNK Rijeka.
Croatia dominated possession and chances in the first half, but were unable to break the deadlock before half-time. However, Mario Mandžukić was finally able to put them ahead in the 57th minute.
However, Finland had the last laugh as Pyry Soiri grabbed an equaliser in the 90th minute to steal a point.
Turkey 0-3 Iceland
Iceland trounced Turkey 3-0 on their own turf at the New Eskişehir Stadium.
Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson opened the scoring in the 32nd minute before Birkir Bjarnason doubled it seven minutes later. Within four minutes after the break, Kári Árnason scored Iceland’s third, wrapping up the rout.
Austria 3-2 Serbia
Ireland 2-0 Moldova
Kosovo 0-2 Ukraine
Liechtenstein 0-1 Israel
