Leicester City see appeal to sign Sporting Lisbon's Adrien Silva rejected by FIFA

FIFA have rejected Leicester City’s request to sign Adrien Silva from Sporting Lisbon.

The Foxes saw their deadline day signing of the midfielder go up in smoke after world football’s governing body deemed the paperwork had been filed 14 seconds after the window slammed shut.

The Premier League side were quick to appeal the decision but now, 34 days after the close of the transfer period, they have once again been left frustrated.

A FIFA spokesman said: "We can confirm the following decision of the Single Judge of the Players' Status Committee: the petition made by the Football Association for permission to request the International Transfer Certificate for the player Adrien Silva and subsequently register the player for its affiliated club, Leicester City FC, is rejected."
