Everton manager Ronald Koeman has welcomed the FIFA international break with open arms following his side’s dire start to the Premier League campaign.
The Toffees have managed just two wins from their opening seven top-flight matches to leave them just two points above the relegation zone.
The Merseysiders are also winless in their last two outings, drawing at home against Apollon Limassol in the Europa League before slumping to a 1-0 loss against Burnley, again at Goodison Park.
Everton now have two weeks to rectify their problems before the domestic season resumes, and Koeman is hoping to make the most of the time.
“It is all about the situation the team is in. Maybe, sometimes, it is good for everyone to freshen up,” he told Everton TV.
“Sometimes if you have a defeat and don’t have the players to train it is more frustrating. It is all about the result at the weekend.
"Of course, you like to work with the players every day to improve the team, but maybe in this situation, it is good to have the break.
“It is all about the game in two weeks now and that is what we need to prepare for.”
