Manchester City defender John Stones has hailed the impact of Pep Guardiola on his game and is determined to repay the faith shown in him.
The England international struggled at times during his first season with the Blues following his £47.5m move from Everton, a deal which made him the second most expensive defender behind David Luiz.
Guardiola, though, maintained his faith in Stones’ abilities and the centre-back has since responded with a number of impressive performances at the back this term to help City to the top of the Premier League table.
When asked about Guardiola’s impact on his game, Stones said: "Really good. Always positive and wanting me to do better and that's what I try to repay him on the pitch.
"The games this season speak for themselves: clean sheets both in the Champions League and Premier League. I feel like I'm developing as a player and a person under him.
"That's all down to the players around me, him and the staff that are there. All I want to do is keep this run going and see where it takes us."
