Manchester City to be without striker Sergio Aguero for up to six weeks with broken ribs

Manchester City are set to be without star striker Sergio Aguero for a minimum of six weeks after breaking ribs in a car crash last week.

The Argentina international was involved in an accident in Amsterdam when the taxi he was travelling in collided with a lamppost in the Dutch city.

The Citizens had initially suggested the injury could keep Aguero sidelined for a month, but Argentine doctor Donato Villani claims that could climb to six weeks.

Villani told TyC Sports: "He [Aguero] is feeling very bad emotionally because he really wanted to come and play [for the national side], but this incident has ruled him out of both games.

"He is going to be out for a month-and-a-half - minimum. He is unable to leave his house, or get in or out of the car. He was feeling very bad because he wanted to be here."

The news means Aguero is set to miss the home-and-away double header against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League, as well as the Premier League visit of Arsenal on November 5.
