England striker Marcus Rashford targeting 2018 World Cup title success in Russia

Posted: 3 October 2017 Time: 15:25

England striker Marcus Rashford believes the team are capable of winning the World Cup next year but is first focused on helping them earn qualification.

The Three Lions need only one point from their remaining two Group F matches to book their place at the 2018 Russia finals and will look to secure their spot when they square off against Slovenia on Thursday.

And Manchester United forward Rashford sees no reason why the England team cannot challenge for global glory, provided they prepare well for the tournament.

"We are doing our best to go there with a real plan and intensity to try and win the tournament," he said.

"We are realistic, even with how we are playing against these teams in the qualifiers.

"But then we have to build our own plan once we get to the World Cup to try and win it."
