Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger sets goal target for Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi

Posted: 3 October 2017 Time: 13:16

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he expects Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi to score 10 goals a season and assist as many more.

The 21-year-old was on target for the Gunners on Sunday as they romped to a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion to lift the north London giants level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.

And, speaking after the game, Wenger admitted he expects a lot from the Nigerian, including a 16-goal contribution throughout the campaign.

"I think he [Iwobi] is a kind of player who has a good availability," said Wenger.

"He helps you a lot to get out of pressure and creates spaces. What you want from him is final balls and goals as well.

“A player like him must score 10 goals and he must as well give between six and 10 assists and that's what I want from him."
