Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento remains holed up in his homeland as negotiations to terminate his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns drag on.
Sundowns have not registered Nascimento for the first half of the season due to injury and because they have exhausted their foreign quota.
To avoid contravening PSL rules regarding keeping non-registered foreign players on their books, The Brazilians opened talks to cancel Nascimento’s contract at the end of August but have yet to reach an agreement.
Word is that Downs made a settlement offer which the Brazilian found unsatisfactory.
Nascimento is still earning his monthly salary while in Brazil where he is recovering from an abdominal hernia operation which he underwent during the winter break.
“No agreement has been reached as yet with regards to terminating the contract. For now there have been talks and an offer tabled which hasn’t been improved,” says a source.
Meanwhile, KickOff.com has established that two PSL clubs are monitoring Nascimento’s situation and are keen to pounce once he becomes a free agent.
The two clubs are waiting to see if Nascimento terminates his contract or whether his deal runs until it expires in June.
