Spanish La Liga match report FC Barcelona v Las Palmas 01 October 2017

Lionel Messi scored a brace to help FC Barcelona to a 3-0 win over Las Palmas at an empty Camp Nou on Sunday.

The match was played in closed doors due to a tense political situation in Catalonia as Barca recorded their seventh consecutive win in La Liga.

Sergi Roberto tested out Chichizola who comfortably saved the midfielders shot.

Lionel Messi stepped up to drive a dangerous free-kick from the edge of area which was well saved by keeper in the 22nd minute.

Ousamme Tannane drove a low shot from range shot which was saved by Ter Stegen three minutes later.

Brazilian international Paulinho put his header inches wide as he connected with Roberto's header in the 33rd minute.

Jonathan Calleri found space inside the area to unleash a shot which crashed against the post moments before halftime.

Neither side could break the deadlock heading into the halftime break.

Sergio Busquets handed Barcelona the lead with a glancing header just five minutes into the second half.

Messi then headed his effort just wide after being set-up by Luis Suarez in the 56th minute.

Messi eventuality found the back of the net as he rounded goalkeeper Chichizola before slotting home in the 70th minute to double the advantage.

Messi scored his second in the 77th minute to put the game beyond doubt for Barcelona, who have have maintained their perfect start tot he season.
