Rooi Mahamutsa boost for Free State Stars ahead of Maritzburg United clash

Free State Stars centre-back Rooi Mahamutsa is on course to make a swift return after suffering a fracture in his right leg earlier this month.

Stars two weeks ago reported Mahamutsa faced eight weeks on the sidelines, but the ex-Orlando Pirates man has already returned to training and has a chance of featuring in tonight's clash with Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium.

"Mahamutsa is back at training and it's very good news," club coach Luc Eymael tells

"I don't know if he will play this game but he is back in training, training with the group. So one thing for sure, he will be fit for the next game [against Ajax Cape Town on October 18]. Perhaps for this game also, but we will see about that."

Ea Lla Koto, however, will be without influential captain Paulus Masehe this evening. The midfielder is serving a two-game ban after getting sent off in a 3-2 win over Eymael's former employers Polokwane City.

"As you know Masehe is suspended, as for the rest everybody is there. For the rest ja, we will miss Paulus but we still have to find a solution, and the players who are there have to prove to the club they are also able to replace Paulus.

"You know we have Mumuni [Abubakar], we have Katlego [Mashego] who can also play there, so we will see. I have not yet selected my 20 players, just goalkeepers Ali Sangare and Olivier Kwizera who I can say are in," concludes the Belgian.

The Bethlehem-based outfit are 14th on the Premiership table with four points from five games - four points shy of sixth-placed Maritzburg.
