South Africa U-17 mentor Molefi Ntseki was honoured to be named the Sports Coach of the Year at the Free State Province Sports Awards.
Ntseki was recognised for leading Amajimbos at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015, guiding the side to a silver medal at the 2016 BRICS U17 Football Tournament held in Goa, India and steering his charges to a fourth-place finish at the 17 COSAFA Cup in Mauritius in July.
“It is always a wonderful feeling to be recognised for the work that one does; however, I want to take this opportunity to thank the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation for a befitting event,” said Ntseki when picking up his prize at a function at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein last week.
“It is very humbling to be recognised by your own family, in this case the Free State Province, but it is an even better feeling to touch the lives of the young children in the communities. Our role is that of educators and the only time we see success is when these youngsters are also successful. It is great to be rewarded for something you are passionate about, thanks once again for the recognition.”
