A former coach of Wiseman Meyiwa is excited by the teenager's emergence at Kaizer Chiefs.
Meyiwa at 17 became the youngest player to score for Chiefs in a 2-0 win at Cape Town City a fortnight ago, and has since racked up four league appearances under head coach Steve Komphela.
The midfielder was promoted to the Amakhosi first team this season having joined the Soweto giants in 2013 after being scouted at the Discovery Games playing for Taftic FC.
Meyiwa initially linked up with Pietermaritzburg-based Taftic FC five years ago, a club which focuses on players from U-12 to U-19 level.
KickOff.com tracked down Taftic FC coach Lindelani Zondo to gain insight on the Amajita international.
"I was extremely excited to see that someone coming under my hands can go this far and reach this level," Zondo says of Meyiwa, who featured at the CAF Youth Championships in Zambia last year and the FIFA U-20 World Cup in June.
"What many people have seen from this boy it's small, there's lot more to come from him. I can assure you this is just the start.
"He also comes from a family that loves football and they wholeheartedly support him. He's a boy who is very disciplined and someone who's committed to his job, especially at training.
"After watching the game against Cape Town City, I also did watch the match against Bidvest Wits [on September 16], and I said to myself there's a lot that he needs to learn but it shows he's still a youngster.
"I then phoned him to encourage him to hold it tight and not feel scared. He should calm down, relax and play football.
"I hope Meyiwa can go on from his career and become a household name for Kaizer Chiefs. Not only for his club but also for Bafana Bafana in the future."
