Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda backs new Orlando Pirates signing Justin Shonga

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda believes striker Justin Shonga will succeed at Orlando Pirates.

Pirates signed Shonga amid rival interest in his services from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 20-year-old will start training with the Soweto giants today.

“He is a young boy with a big heart,” Nyirenda tells KickOff.com from Zambia.

“He has strong feet, is athletic and skillful. He is mobile and can look for spaces in a game when it is closed. He has technique. He does not only score goals but is also good in creating chances for other players.”

The former Kaizer Chiefs forward urged Bucs to give him time to settle at Mayfair.

“Given time, game-time and him getting used to the environment and other players understanding him very well, he will deliver.”

Shonga's arrival at the Buccaneers will help ease the pressure on Thamsanqa Gabuza following the departure of Zimbabwean hitman Tendai Ndoro to Saudi outfit Al Faisaly in August.
