SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler was pleased his men got the job done in their dramatic CAF Confederation Cup showdown with Zesco United.
SuperSport advanced to the last-four of the continental event on away goals following a 2-2 draw in Ndola, Zambia on Saturday.
Matsatsantsa winger Thuso Phala was the hero for the visitors, who were held to a goalless draw on home soil, as he completed a brace in stoppage time at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
“We knew that we need to come here and not necessarily win but to get a scoring draw and we would go through, and that is precisely what we achieved,” Tinkler is quoted as saying by CAF.
“I explained to the players that we basically had 90 minutes in order to achieve that irrespective of whether we conceded or not, but that shouldn’t change the fact that we are breaking the tie and that is exactly what we did.”
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder added: “What we count as very important is what you do away from home rather than what you actually do at home.”
Tinkler's side will host Tunisia's Club Africain in the first leg of the semi-finals on September 30.
Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns saw their Champions League title defence end on the weekend, losing 3-2 on penalties to Morocco's Wydad Casabalanca in the quarter-finals following a 1-1 draw across two legs.
