South African midfielder Jaisen Clifford hopes FC Stumbras can qualify for the UEFA Europa League following their Lithuanian Cup triumph.
The Stars of Africa product helped his club to a historic 1-0 victory in the final on Sunday to claim honours alongside compatriot Kgaogelo Sekgota.
Clifford, who has been on the books of SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits, has played eight matches for Stumbras since joining the topflight side in June.
Sekgota missed the final but has featured in nine league games for the Kaunas-based outfit, which was only formed four years ago.
"Obviously we are happy to have won the cup and it's crazy because we haven't won the cup before in the history of the club," Clifford tells KickOff.com from Lithuania.
"To come and win it against the champions of Lithuania, it was an experience to just play the game," he adds having come on as a second-half substitute at Aukštaitijos Stadium in Panevėžys yesterday.
"This means obviously next season we have booked a spot in the Europa League qualifiers and we hope to make the most of it.
"Everyone is excited, everyone is... things are wild you know. The club and the city of Kaunas, they've never experienced something like this before so we are obviously happy."
Stumbras will hope their cup success can spill over into their league campaign as a three-match winless run leaves them sixth on the eight-team log with 22 points from 25 games.
