Da Gama set for Highlands job

Former Bafana Bafana assistant coach Owen da Gama has been tipped to take over the reins from Terry Mulondzo and Les Grobler at Highlands Park.

Highlands are currently ninth on the NFD table with six points from five games following their relegation from the topflight last term.

"There are changes taking place in the club," says a source close to the second-tier outfit.

"The club has had a meeting with Owen and he is expected to take over."

When Stuart Baxter was appointed the new Bafana coach in place of Shakes Mashaba in May he told SAFA that he would not be taking Da Gama as his assistant, which led to the ex-Platinum Stars boss being left in the cold.

The Lions of the North next host Ubuntu Cape Town on Saturday.
