Banyana Banyana secured the COSAFA Women's Championship title after recording a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe on Sunday afternoon.

After a bright start from Banyana, it was Zimbabwe who had the first chance as Marjory Nyaumwe headed wide of the target.

Thembi Kgatlana was lively for the South Africans, but chances were hard to come by in the 18-yard area.

Zimbabwe shot-stopper Dzingari had to be at her best after 35 minutes as she produced two saves to deny Kgatlana and Mbane.

However, the South Africans broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime as Leandra Smeda played in Kgatlana, who made no mistake from close range.

The Zimbabweans pushed for an equaliser upon resumption in the second half, but they were struggling to carve out clear-cut chances.

Zimbabwe pushed for an equaliser and they were eventually rewarded in the 73rd minute as Makore nodded home. That was her 10th goal of the campaign.

However, South Africa hit back in stoppage time when Leandra Smeda found the back of the net with header of Essau's cross.

Ellis' charges managed to see out the rest of the match to clinch the title.
