Steven Pienaar says Bidvest Wits must "face the storm" head on as the champions look for their first win of the season against in-form Orlando Pirates on Saturday night.
Wits are hurting following a 3-0 thumping by Premiership returnees AmaZulu in midweek - a result which leaves Gavin Hunt's side in the relegation zone with two points from five games.
The Clever Boys also saw their MTN8 title defence end with a 3-1 defeat across two legs against Cape Town City in the semi-finals.
However, Pienaar, a marquee off-season signing, is confident the star-studded outfit will turn it around.
"It's disappointing that the team is not winning games and we are all down," the former Everton and Sunderland midfielder tells KickOff.com.
"But we are champions after winning the league last season, so you'll always have challenges. Every team you play against, to them it's like a cup final and they want to prove a point.
"But we just have to face the storm. There's a lot of talent in this team and we'll get out of it.
"Having said that, it's not difficult but we just have to face the storm. It is a bad start for the club and the best players have to take responsibility and work hard to get out of this situation."
The 35-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Pirates - who are unbeaten this season and share the summit with Golden Arrows and Baroka - before ending his 16-year spell abroad. Pienaar, though, insists he made the right decision to join the Students.
"Definitely, I made the decision myself and I'm happy where I am," he says.
"Like I said, it is a bad start but we'll get out of it. When it rains afterwards the sun comes up and it is one of those situations we are in right now.
"At the moment it's not falling for us and we just have to keep on working hard," concludes the ex-Bafana Bafana captain.
