Komphela: Arrows are very quick

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is mindful of the threat Golden Arrows poses, and hopes to build on the performances in their recent “festival” of fixtures.
Chiefs will do battle for the fourth time in 10 days when they take on Abafana Bes’thende at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Having just come off a morale-boosting win over Maritzburg United, who have had a good start to the season, Komphela has drawn similarities with Arrows, who are also on a good run at present.
“They [Arrows] are very quick. Apart from Arrows, even Maritzburg carried the same element and threat,” said Komphela in the build-up to the encounter.
“A reflection on the Absa Premiership – it’s very tight. If you have to check the fixtures we go through, none of them is a fixture that we could say is easy.
“We just went through Cape Town City, who were on song, Bidvest Wits, [and] if you go further into October we’ll have your Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Baroka, who is also on top.
“It shows how competitive it is, and Arrows are no different. They just beat Platinum Stars and we saw how they break from their midfield – the speed they have.
“We just have to go back [to work] again, forget about Maritzburg United and plan well for Arrows.”
Komphela also downplayed their fixture congestion over the last week-and-a-half, and is positive they can make the most of the time they’ve had to study their opponents.
“We got into these festival of matches already half ready for each one of them, so yesterday’s one is gone so we focus on tomorrow, but I’m sure we’ll come through,” he added.
“We just have to think well, plan well, prepare well and participate better to get a result.
“But we’ve been watching Arrows and we know what they do. They can be deadly if given a chance, so we go into Saturday hoping to use the information we’ve gathered to survive the match on."
