AmaZulu: PSL must punish Wits' Hellings Mhango for spitting in face of Michael Morton

AmaZulu general manager Lunga Sokhela has written to NSL CEO Mato Madlala requesting disciplinary action be taken against Hellings Mhango for spitting in Michael Morton's face.

The incident occurred late into Usuthu's 3-0 win over Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, with Morton getting sent off for retaliation after shoving the Wits striker to the ground at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Morton has since been hit with an automatic two-game ban, while Mhango is yet to be sanctioned having escaped the flashing of a card from referee Eketsang Setloboko during the league tie in Durban.

Part of Sokhela's letter reads: "We accept that Michael Morton shouldn't have reacted and thus don't disagree with the red card. We do however feel the League needs to punish Gabadinho [Mhango] harshly for his behaviour. What's even more concerning is that both the player and club have not even apologised and thus shown no remorse for the player's action. We thus ask the League not to show any leniency on both parties. We look forward to your urgent response on the matter."
