Mamelodi Sundowns look to have finally found a pitch to train on to start preparing for their CAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca.
According to Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa, the African champions will train at FUS Rabat’s stadium after initially finding that Wydad had not organised a pitch for them to prepare on.
The African champions wrote a letter to SAFA to complain that their opponents failed to organise a training venue before their meeting at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors planned to train in Rabat at 21h00 when they arrived in Morocco on Tuesday. They will only get their chance to start training today.
What should work for Sundowns is that their players know what it takes to win away from home and they will not be distracted by what’s happening.
“We have been around Rabat, looking all over for a pitch to train on. It looks like we will get FUS Rabat’s stadium. It tests your character as a club and we have been through this before. When we are up against the odds, we always come out tops,” said Thuswa.
He added: “Sundowns are not cry babies. We are here, we have a capable team and we will do our best to make it comfortable for the side and easy on the technical team. The coach is doing fine. We are all matured about this. As long as we find a solution in the end.”
