Mamelodi Sundowns have written to SAFA to complain that CAF Champions League quarterfinal opponents Wydad Casablanca have not organised a pitch for them to train on in Rabat.
After beating Wydad 1-0 in the first leg clash played at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, Sundowns left for Morocco on Monday night, getting a good send off from their supporters at OR Tambo International Airport.
But KickOff.com has been informed that Wydad have not organised a training pitch and Sundowns have not wasted any time to put this in writing to SAFA, so that the matter can be taken up with CAF. Sundowns are hoping that CAF can intervene as soon as possible.
The second leg is set to be played at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Saturday.
Sundowns drove an hour-and-a-half from Casablanca to Rabat today, where they will be staying until match day. Initially the match was going to be played at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca, but the venue was changed last week.
Sundowns, who say they have tried by all means to reach out to the officials of the opposition team, intend on training in Rabat at 21h00 tonight but it’s unclear if they will have a pitch to train on.
The mind games have certainly started, but Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane knows about all the tricks in the book and he will not be too concerned.
