Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela reserved praise for youngster Wiseman Meyiwa, following their 2-0 win over Cape Town City.
Meyiwa was handed a debut in the Chiefs midfield, and he played 89 minutes and netted the second goal as the Amakhosi registered their first win of the season.
"How sweet can it ever be when a youngster at 18 plays like this? The only thing I was worried about was that he was going to lose energy as the game progresses," Komphela told SuperSport TV.
"You could see at the end he was getting tired. He's got heart like a lion, unbelievable. It is characteristic of a defensive central midfielder.
"This is the only game of your life when you're allowed to make mistakes and nobody will blame you. When you do well, compliments go to you because they don't know you."
Komphela added that they learned a lot from their previous defeats and that gave them the push to improve.
"It was a nice match to watch. In football you learn after getting hurt unlike at school where you go learn and avoid being hurt.
"Such lessons gave us a bit of wisdom. At half-time we could have gone in the dressing room 1-0 or 2-0 up. Football is a funny game. We're delighted with the victory, well done to Benni [City coach McCarthy] as well. Great performance, great resistance."
