Orlando Pirates newcomer Musa Nyatama is out to prove he is one of the best midfielders in the country.
The 30-year-old, who joined Pirates from Bloemfontein Celtic in the off-season, put in a man-of-the-match display in the club's 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium last night.
Nyatama impressed in the middle of the park alongside Mpho Makola and versatile Bucs captain Thabo Matlaba in Soweto.
“I will like to say I have been working very hard like I did last season. When coming to Pirates, I’m making a point that I need to also work very hard,” said Nyatama, who also played in the 1-0 defeat of Chippa United and 1-1 draw with Baroka in the first two games of the season.
“I want to prove a point that I’m one of the best [at Pirates] as well in South Africa. Here at Pirates, there are so many quality players around me to help me to be able to play my best football.”
Bucs coach Milutin Sredojevic is unsurprised by Nyatama's form given his efforts in training.
“He has really worked hard and this award of being the man of the match is not coming as an accident. Football is really paying him back through his performance,” said the Serbian.
The Sea Robbers next visit Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday (20h00 kick-off). Both teams have seven points from three league matches.
