Lebogang Manyama says he is with Cape Town City in spirit for their showdown with Kaizer Chiefs at Cape Town Stadium tonight.
Manyama joined Konyaspor on transfer deadline day in August from City, having captained the Citizens to Telkom Knockout honours and a third-placed finish in the Premiership last term.
The reigning PSL Footballer of the Season won the Golden Boot with 13 league goals in 2016/17, which included a strike against Amakhosi in a thrilling 3-2 win in the Mother City in April.
“It’s gonna be a massive game for the boys and I wish the boys all the best,” Manyama tells KickOff.com.
“The players must just enjoy themselves and I hope they do well. My spirit is with the team.”
The 26-year-old, who made his Turkish topflight debut in the number 10 jersey on the weekend, is enjoying his new surroundings.
“It’s not very different from back in Cape Town. The people are friendly and the weather is good. I’m enjoying every minute of it,” says the Alexandra-born attacker.
“This move for me is still a dream come true but the hard work starts now. My goal is to play as much as I can. I don’t care if it is not in my preferred position as that is up to the coach."
