Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael felt his charges did 'very well' despite suffering a defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Stars' search for a first win of the season continues after they went down 2-1 to the Brazilians at Goble Park on Monday night.
Eymael was, however, proud of his team's defensive structure and said they tried everything to come back into the game.
"I think we did very well. We were well organised. We kept a good structure. We created so many chances I don't know how many we created in the first half but we could not score. Two times the goals are completely empty, I don't know why we didn't score," said Eymael to SuperSport TV after the match.
"In this kind of game when you have early chances you need to take the lead. Unfortunately we conceded with just two minutes before the halftime. The substitution of Percy Tau, everybody knows his qualities, he scored a good free-kick.
"Unfortunately we conceded the second goal losing the ball in midfield, no body making a professional foul. We need to do that, we can't give the player so many yards. But we never gave up, we fought until the end. We tried everything.
"I changed from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 in the second half, we pushed everybody in the front to score. We were certainly not worse than Sundowns in the matter of playing," concluded the Belgian, who was on the bench for the first time for Ea Lla Koto.
