FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde is surprised by the criticism his side has received despite winning their opening two La Liga encounters.

The Catalan giants secured victories over Real Betis and Deportivo Alaves before the international break.

However, the club have come in for some criticism for their transfer dealings, president Josep Maria Bartomeu also facing a vote of no confidence.

"We've just won our first two league games, we've got six points. I think everything is quite good," Valverde was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo.

"Sometimes there's too much noise about what's happening, but this is Barcelona – it is a big club.

"Sometimes people make more of things than they have to. We need to try to close the team away from all that noise outside.

"We want solidarity both in attack and in defence, we need to work hard to get fans to enjoy what they're seeing and most of all to get results.

"I know the names of possible signings get fans excited, but it's a very fleeting kind of excitement."
