Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Erick Mathoho has issued a public apology after his recent red cards for club and country.
Mathoho was sent off in Chiefs' 2-1 loss to SuperSport United in the Premiership last month, and again in Bafana's 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Praia on Friday.
'Tower' will miss Amakhosi's next two games against title rivals Cape Town City and Bidvest Wits through suspension, as well as Bafana's rematch with the Blue Sharks at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium tonight (19h00).
Mathoho expressed remorse on Instagram, saying, “Following the two red cards which I was shown back to back, one on the 23rd August 2017 and another one on the 1st September 2017, which saw me suspended for both club and country, I am deeply disappointed in myself for the errors which led to my sending off on both games, I wish I could reverse the time and do things differently.
“I would like to sincerely apologise to the Chiefs family and South Africa at large, I hope that you will find it in your hearts to forgive me. I promise to do better next time.”
