Platinum Stars coach Peter Butler has received the backing of management after team's poor start

Posted: 5 September 2017 Time: 15:31

KickOff.com has gathered that coach Peter Butler is still in charge of Platinum Stars … for now.

Former Orlando Pirates coach Kosta Papic has been linked with the job and is said to be waiting in the wings to take over the position.

Stars have not made a good start to the season with Butler, losing their first two league matches of the season and conceding five goals in total against Maritzburg United and Cape Town City.

Dikwena general manager Senzo Mazingiza, however, has since given Butler his backing and said they have no intention to fire the England-born coach.

“I am surprised to receive messages that the club has fired the coach," said Mazingiza.

“Peter Butler is still our coach. I don’t know where those reports are coming from,” he added.

Stars will be boosted by Lehlogonolo Masalesa's return from injury after the international break, while former Royal Eagles midfielder Raymond Monama has agreed to join the club.
