Zambia want double over Algeria

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda believes his squad is good enough to do the double over North African giants Algeria in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
Chipolopolo beat Algeria 3-1 in Lusaka on Saturday, a victory which was inspired by a brace from Platinum Stars striker Brian Mwila.
The victory put Zambia in second place on four points in Group B, six points behind leaders Nigeria who drew 1-1 with Cameroon in Yaounde on Monday.
The Zambians face Algeria again on Tuesday in Constantine, eager to get another victory, which will keep their hopes alive of qualifying for a first ever World Cup.
Zambia have failed in their last three attempts to win in Algeria, but they are confident they can triumph this time round and close Nigeria’s gap at the top of the table to just three points. Kick-off is at 21h00 SA time.
“It is not going to be an easy game. Algeria will be tough at home; they are a big team and we respect them for that,” Nyirenda told Cafonline.com.
“Preparations in such a manner where we have just played a game and then start off and make a long trip to play a game in another two days is tricky.
“We don't have enough time to do a lot of work. There will be more talking than action. It will not be easy playing against a big team at their home where everyone will be there for them. But I think we have the character to get a win,” Nyirenda added.
The Zambians will be without Russia-based striker Fashion Sakala, who is suspended after getting red carded in the win on Saturday.
But with Dikwena striker Mwila on a high after the two goals he bagged at the weekend, Zambia still have a strong attack. There’s also the promising Enock Mwepu, who scored on debut for Chipolopolo on Saturday.
