Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael feels trialist Cheslyn Jampies is better suited to central defence than left-back due to a lack of pace.
Jampies played in friendlies against Bidvest Wits and Platinum Stars over the weekend having spent the past week with Ea Lla Koto.
Belgian tactician Eymael is due to make a call on the 27-year-old's future following dicussions with club management.
"Jampies... not yet fit...and a bit slow at fullback... but centre-back okay," Eymael tells KickOff.com.
"I have to talk with the bosses. We won [sic] Platinum 2-0 and drew with Wits 2-2.
"I expected better as a left-back but I can understand that he had a lack of explosiveness and also recovery because he didn't play since a long time. But I was surprised when I placed him at centre-back, where he was using his experience and his skills in duels, anticipation and aerial."
Jampies has been without a team since November last year after being released by Bloemfontein Celtic. He previously plied his trade for Jomo Cosmos.
