Ajax Cape Town newcomer Tercious Malepe is relishing the prospect of game-time at Ikamva after struggling to break through at Orlando Pirates.
Ajax announced the loan signing of Malepe from Pirates on transfer deadline day last week, along with Mario Booysen as fellow centre-back Rivaldo Coetzee joined Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 20-year-old Malepe, who earned his first Bafana Bafana cap at the COSAFA Cup in August, is in line to make his Urban Warriors debut against Bucs at Orlando Stadium on September 12.
“I worked hard at Orlando Pirates even though I didn’t get the desired game-time. That said, I think this loan move is very good for me because as a youngster I need game-time to showcase my talent,” Malepe told Ajax's website.
“I really appreciate the offer from Ajax Cape Town, giving me this opportunity to be part of the family. I am happy to be an Urban Warrior at this point in time. We are pushing hard so that we are able to do well and compete in the Premiership this season.
“Of course for me, it is very important to get game-time. I am going to work very hard to help that we bring good results to the fans.
He added: “I will adapt, I am here to work.”
Malepe spent last season playing for the Buccaneers’ MultiChoice Diski Challenge team after returning from a loan spell with Moroka Swallows in the second tier.
The defender skippered Amajita at the U-20 World Cup and U-20 AFCON earlier this year.
