New Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael says he has been impressed with the work ethic of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele.
The 30-year-old forward seems to have done enough to land a deal with the Bethlehem-based side. He is a free agent and can be signed by Stars even though the transfer window has closed.
Manqele, who has been without a club since parting ways with Amakhosi in the second half of last season, was part of the Stars team that played friendly matches against Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits on Saturday.
The striker, who also played for Moroka Swallows and Chippa United, is hoping to secure a deal with Ea Lla Koto and join his former Amakhosi teammate Siphelele Mthembu, who was recently signed by the Free State outfit.
Manqele had sustained an injury while on trial with Stars but has recovered and hopes he can revive his career with the club where he first made a name for himself back in the 2011/12 season.
"I'm fully satisfied about Manqele who is coming back well," Eymael tells KickOff.com.
"Clever player. I played him on the wing, not striker."
Manqele enjoyed his best football during his first spell with Ea Lla Koto in 2011/12 when he scored 11 goals in 29 appearances. Stars could do with a striker who will get into double figures as they look to stay away from the relegation zone.
