Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has no hard feelings over Lebogang Manyama’s move to Turkey as he backed the Bafana Bafana player’s switch to Europe.

Sundowns were keen on signing Manyama from Cape Town City, but they had a bid rejected as the Citizens’ chairman John Comitis said the offer was not good enough.

Manyama, who is the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season and top scorer, instead signed for Turkish side Konyaspor, as Downs missed out on one of their top targets.

Mosimane, however, was not too disappointed. He said it’s a good move for the 26-year-old because moves such as these may only come once.

“I think so [it’s a good move]. What is he, 27 or 28? These things come once and if you ask Manyama what’s his dream, he’d say to play for Bafana and in Europe, so it’s a good move and it’s important,” Mosimane says.

“If you don’t go overseas, you have to try get the best move locally before you retire because you might not win the league and yet you were a good player. [People will ask] What have you won? You can say ‘No I was always in the starting line-up’, but what have you won? You’ve got to win something. Players and coaches understand those dynamics.”

Manyama, who turns 27 this month, started for Bafana against Cape Verde on Friday night, as a support striker for Tokelo Rantie.
