SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler explains thinking behind team selection for clash with Nedbank Ke Yona Team

Posted: 3 September 2017 Time: 09:15

SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler says he will blood youngsters in the clash with the Nedbank Ke Yona Team in Tembisa this weekend.

Kick-off is at 15h30 at Makhulong Stadium on Sunday.

The Nedbank Cup champions are minus a number of international players during the FIFA break, including Bafana Bafana goalkeepers Ronwen Williams and Reyaad Pieterse, defenders Clayon Daniels and Morgan Gould, and midfielder Dean Furman.

"We will be using the younger players," Tinkler tells "Most of my players are away with the national teams, about seven of our players are away with national teams."

Tinkler says he is also taking into account a heavy schedule this month, as Matsatsantsa prepare for MTN8, CAF Confederation Cup and Premiership obligations.

"The fact that I'm gonna have eight games in the month of September will also play a part in us not being able to field a full-strength team. But I'm gonna use the younger players that are part of the first team."
