Bafana Bafana ace Kamohelo Mokotjo wants an "effective" performance in the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier with Cape Verde.
Stuart Baxter's men will meet the islanders at Praia’s Estadio Nacional tomorrow (20h30 kick-off) before hosting the return duel at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Tuesday.
Mokotjo, who plies his club football with Brentford in England, hopes Bafana can generate momentum following their historic 2-0 away win over Nigeria in a 2019 AFCON qualifier in June.
The 26-year-old missed the Super Eagles contest, which was Baxter's first assignment on his return to the Bafana hotseat, due to an injury. He was nevertheless impressed with his compatriots' efforts in Uyo.
"The atmosphere has been good [in camp]," Mokotjo said. "Of course I missed out on the Nigeria game, but the boys managed to get a good result. They looked very well structured, they put in a good performance. Hopefully we can take all the good things that we did in that game and we can continue doing the good work."
The former FC Twente midfielder added: "Playing away from home, we have to play effectively to get the result. The main goal is the World Cup in Russia, so results are the most important thing."
South Africa earned a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou in October 2016 and followed it up with a 2-1 win over Senegal in Polokwane in November in their previous WC qualifiers.
