Mthatha Bucks coach Ian Palmer plans Luyolo Nomandela sit-down

Mthatha Bucks head coach Ian Palmer says he must first have a serious talk with Luyolo Nomandela before deciding whether to sign the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker.

KickOff.com yesterday revealed Nomandela started training with Bucks on Tuesday following a failed trial at Platinum Stars.

The 27-year-old was released by Cape Town City in April after making only two appearances under then-head coach Eric Tinkler.

"He is here for an assessment," Palmer tells this website.

"He hasn't played a competitive game for a long time... [we] will make a decision by next week. I also have to have a one-on-one with the boy.

"I heard a lot of stories... I need to find out his side of the story."

The Orlando Pirates legend says he admired Nomandela's qualities in the past.

"In the past yes I did... I do not know what his level is now. The NFD is a totally different beast."
