Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids feels Bongani Mpandle is impressing in goal amid competition from new goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

Mpandle has conceded one goal in four matches this season, having vied for game-time with Virgil Vries when he initially joined the side at the beginning of last term.

The Team of Choice signed Black Stars international Ofori on a three-year deal in July from Wa All Stars in the Ghanaian Premier League following the departure of Vries.

"That is the important thing [conceding fewer goals] and you've got to give credit to Richard Ofori for coming in and giving the goalkeeping department a boost," says Davids.

"It is why you are seeing the performances of Bongani Mpandle... fantastic. Richard Ofori has come in and is pushing, now we got two really quality goalkeepers to give that department a boost."

Log leaders Maritzburg next host SuperSport United at Harry Gwala Stadium in the MTN8 semi-finals on September 9. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Tshwane.
