Mntambo: Cosmos showed intent

Jomo Cosmos captain Linda Mntambo feels the promotion hopefuls sent a statement in the 5-0 rout of University of Pretoria on Sunday.

Cosmos bounced back from an opening-day 1-0 defeat to Highlands Park via goals from Tebogo Makobela, Mxolisi Macuphu, Sicelo Mkhize, Cyril Lingwati and Clifford Mulenga at Vosloorus Stadium.

“It was indeed a good feeling to captain the team to such crucial victory, but even more importantly the win underlined our desire to work together, be dedicated and focused,” Mntambo told his club's website.

“Our intentions are clear this season: to go out there and make it happen.”

He added: “So far I think we’ve started well but we must try not to get carried away by the big win over Tuks. There’s still so much to do, and we must stop giving points away and avoid the mistakes of last season.”

Ezenkosi's next National First Division fixture is against second-tier newcomers Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhadila on September 9 in Thohoyandou.
