SuperSport United striker Jeremy Brockie’s future with Matsatsantsa remains uncertain after being left out of his side’s MTN8 first-leg semi-final against Maritzburg United on Saturday evening.
The club’s top marksman, who started his side’s midweek league match against Kaizer Chiefs on the bench, was nowhere to be seen at the Lucas Moripe Stadium as his side played out a 1-1 draw against the Team of Choice, fuelling reports that he could be heading across the capital to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
United coach Eric Tinkler was cagey when asked about the absence of the New Zealand striker.
"It’s an internal matter" Tinkler said. "The CEO is the right person to speak to.”
It is common knowledge that the Brazilians have shown a keen interest in Brockie recently, with Leonardo Castro’s struggles and recent absence further championing the desire to bring Brockie to Chloorkop.
Masandawana’s participation across various domestic and continental competitions further enhance the need for greater squad depth, though it must be noted that Brockie would be unavailable for the CAF Champions League as registration has already closed.
The local transfer window draws to a close this week, with both SuperSport and Sundowns set to still reinforce their squad ahead of another gruelling campaign.
