Bidvest Wits defender Thulani Hlatshwayo says they will try their best to change their poor record against Free State Stars when they meet at Goble Park tonight.
The Clever Boys have failed to beat Ea Lla Koto in their last six visits to the Free State, with their last away victory coming back in October 2013. Former midfielders Matthew Pattison and Sibusiso Vilakazi scored in a 2-0 win.
Last season Gavin Hunt’s side looked to have foiled their chances of clinching a maiden league title as they suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Stars, but managed to hold onto the trophy thanks to title rivals Mamelodi Sundowns' slip-up.
Hlatshwayo says they know what to expect and will do their utmost to rectify previous errors and capitalise on the opportunity to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Cape Town City last week Friday.
“We know what kind of team we’re playing against and we’ve prepared well,” said the skipper during their pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “We have to go there, stick it out and fight.
“Most of the time we handle them and they score around the end of the first half or the end of the game, which is where we need to be fully concentrated.
“This time around we know we’re not good visitors there, but we plan on overcoming all of that.”
Kick-off of the clash is set for 19h30.
