Polokwane City coach Bernard Molekwa was full of praise for his side, and especially double hero Rodney Ramagalela, after Tuesday’s shock victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.
The former Brazilians striker twice found the back of the net at Loftus Versfeld as Rise and Shine held out for a 2-1 win, with George Lebese having temporarily equalised for Sundowns from the penalty spot.
Speaking after the game, Molekwa was not getting too ahead of himself after the result but was happy to see his side stick to the game plan against the African champions.
“Honestly speaking, that [the opener] was the goal that we needed,” Molekwa told SuperSport TV. “Sundowns is a good team, they can play the ball, they can also run, their movement is very good so I told my players the only way to win this game is to stay compact, don’t lose it.
“Because at the end of the day, they were opened and we caught them on the counter. Pound for pound, my players tried everything.
“Also, thank God for Rama [Rodney Ramagalela] for taking those chances but there is still room for improvement, we still have to work harder.
“But I have to say, good start. Two games, four points, I think is better.”
