Chippa shoot down blunt AmaZulu

Chippa United collected their first points of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season as they saw off a blunt AmaZulu 2-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Usuthu carved open the first chance after 10 minutes but Michel Morton was unable to keep his header down after nodding a decent chance over the crossbar.
It was then Chippa’s chance to threaten as Kurt Lentjies whipped in a dangerous into the area, only for the goalkeeper to smartly pluck the ball out of the air ahead of the Chilli Boys attackers.
The Chilli Boys would eventually get the opener eight minutes from half-time, Moeketsi Sekola the man to score Chippa’s first Absa Premiership goal of the season after slotting home from close range.

AmaZulu looked determined to get themselves back into the game after the break and although they showed glimpses of their talents, they were unable to convert that into chances as the hour mark passed without the visitors threatening Brighton Mhlongo.
The PSL returnees continued pressing as the second-half wore on but seems to lack a killer instinct, with plenty of possession meaning very little when it came to a threat on the hosts’ goal.
And, they were eventually made to pay for their blunt attack as Chippa made sure of the points with seven minutes remaining, Lentjies providing the assist for Abel Mabaso to slot home.
