Themba Zwane: Mamelodi Sundowns ready for Polokwane City

Posted: 22 August 2017 Time: 15:51

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane insists the Brazilians are ready for tonight's clash with Polokwane City.

Kick-off is at 19h30 at Loftus Versfeld, with Sundowns entering the match on the back of a 2-0 win over Tshwane rivals SuperSport United on the weekend.

City played to a goalless draw with Limpopo rivals Baroka in their first league game of the season.

“I’m looking forward to the next game. We need the three points,” said Zwane, who netted a fine goal against SuperSport, told

“It’s going to be a tough game. All I can promise the fans is that we’re going to work hard to win the game.”

Zwane feels Loftus has been kinder to the African champions than Lucas Moripe Stadium, where they lost 1-0 to Maritzburg United in the MTN8 quarter-finals. He also expects an entertaining contest this evening due to the attacking styles of both teams.

“We won most of our games at Loftus. And we win only some of them at Lucas Moripe. But I think Loftus is better for us.

“It's gonna be a good game. Both teams will want to attack each other. It’s going to be an open game. Both teams are going to create chances. But it’s all down to who takes their chances.”

He added: “We’ve done our analysis [of Polokwane]. We know who’s dangerous and we know where we can capitalise. We know our plan.”
